Faces of Opportunity

This book compiles the stories of twenty women and men who began their journey out of chronic poverty with a small loan - as little as $50.

One enterprising Ugandan woman bought a sewing machine and began a tailoring business. A mother in Indonesia purchased 1,000 coconuts and sold the distilled oil. Each story is as different as the personality and context of the individual - yet they point to a common dream - a life without poverty.

"As mothers, our dreams and aspirations for our children are universal. No matter where you live or what resources you have available, we all want our children to succeed, to grow up to become happy, healthy, independent adults.
That is why the work of organizations like Opportunity International is so important."
