When faced with a challenging problem, what can we do to coax that blinding flash of brilliance into consciousness? According to recent research by Goldsmiths College in London and the Austrian Academy of Sciences, relaxing is the key to creativity. The team studied the brain rhythms of 21 volunteers while they were asked to solve verbal problems. Those who displayed higher alpha brain waves - associated with a relaxed brain - were more likely to find the correct solution to the problem.
