Embracing The Unknown

by: Maureen Tazzioli

Over the past month or so I have been granted five separate opportunities to be interviewed by our local community television station. These segments were created to raise awareness of upcoming events in our community, for which I was to be the keynote speaker. However, it is important to also note that these interviewed segments were taped the day before they went to air.

Having said that, I have also been asked to do an "on- air" televised informational segment by our city's largest television station. However, I seem to find the whole concept of "going live" to be a little unsettling for me. Hmmmmmm... I started to think. Why was I so nervous about doing an on-air interview versus a taped one?

After much thought I soon realized that I was nervous because I was not aware of what might happen. Hmmmm... I thought about it some more. What if I knew what was going to happen to me every minute of every day, throughout my entire life, would that really be a blessing?

I believe that the mystery of life...the unknown...is what keeps us alive, full of hope and believing in possibilities. I also find that when things happen to us that we may not have expected, it can be looked upon as an opportunity for us to research, learn, and explore new insights as we take on different perspectives.

So this week, don't ever be nervous about the unknown, but rather, embrace the unknown as an opportunity to learn and discover more about yourself. That’s what I am going to do.
